About Labradoodles

The Labradoodle was originally developed in the 1980s as an allergy friendly service dog.  In the early years, the Labradoodle was simply a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Standard Poodle.

In the late 1980s, Rutland Manor and Tegan Park, the Founders of the Australian Labradoodle, saw the potential in this early pairing, and over 20 plus years, developed and refined the breed.  They made selective matings to breed for gentle natures, non shedding coats, robust health, and size.  They carefully infused other breeds at specific times to further define and strengthen the most desirable characteristics.  These infusions included the Irish Water Spaniel, American and English Cocker Spaniel, and the Irish Soft Coated Wheaten.  The Authentic Australian Labradoodle is the result of purposeful breeding over an extended period of time - neither a designer dog nor a mutt.  It is not a Lab/Poodle cross, but is a breed unto itself.

Our foundation stock comes directly from the Founder of the breed, Rutland Manor, who has so meticulously developed the lines over the years.  Our mission is to preserve and strengthen this outstanding lineage.

The Authentic Australian Labradoodle is an amazingly sweet, gentle, and loving dog with an intuitive nature, robust health, and a beautiful wavy non-shedding allergy friendly coat.  Australian Labradoodles are smart and easily trainable, oftentimes learning things on the very first go-around.  They are athletic and energetic and love to romp and play.  Australian Labradoodles are very much a people-oriented dog.  They are loyal, companionable animals who always want to be involved with their family.  They seem to be ever at your side, lying by your feet, resting in your lap, or if you let them, planting kisses all over your face.  They make wonderful pets and family dogs, and are well suited for Therapy and Service work.

Sizes

There is a size of Australian Labradoodle for almost everyone.

Miniature:  14"-16" at the withers, 15-25 pounds

Medium:  17"-20" at the withers, 25-50 pounds.

Standard:  21"-24" at the withers, 50-75 pounds

Colors

We offer puppies in colors of Caramel, Cream, Ebony, Red, Apricot, Gold, Chocolate, including Solid, Parti, Phantom, Roan, Brindle, and Sable.  We love colors!
